Science Communication
For Heinrich Heine University, science communication is a key component of its strategic orientation as a “Bürgeruniversität” (Citizens’ University). The Public Engagement Unit (“Stabsstelle Bürgeruniversität”) therefore encourages and supports all researchers who would like to play an active role here.
We help researchers get started in science communication and provide advice on suitable formats and funding proposals. We organise training courses with experienced external trainers on a regular basis and offer opportunities for intern networking. Via our science communication funding pool, we also offer researchers the opportunity to apply for funding of up to €1,000 to realise their own ideas.
The Public Engagement Unit is also directly involved in science communication via its free programme of public events involving all HHU faculties. Every autumn, we host a parliamentary breakfast at the State Parliament in Düsseldorf. We also realise our own projects within the framework of the “Science Years” programme of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt – BMFTR).
