Citizens' University

We are convinced that we can strengthen trust in science and the acceptance of research results through an open and sincere dialogue with citizens.

Professor Dr Anja Steinbeck, HHU President

Citizens‘ University

Heinrich Heine University sees itself as a Citizens’ University and attaches great importance to public engagement. As a dialogue-oriented, transparent research and educational facility, it actively fosters exchange between science and society. Dialogue between HHU and citizens of Düsseldorf is coordinated by the Public Engagement Unit (“Bürgeruniversität”). Exchanges with stakeholders in politics, industry and civil society fall under the area of Consultative Science Communication (German only), for which the Vice President for International Relations and Science Communication is responsible.
